Who We Are
We are a summer transition program at The College of New Jersey funded by the New Jersey Commission for the Blind. Our goal is to provide rising high school juniors, seniors, and incoming college freshmen who are blind and visually impaired a well-rounded experience to assist in preparing for college life.
In 2014, The New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired and The Center for Sensory and Complex Disabilities at TCNJ partnered with The Bonner Center for Civic and Community Engagement at TCNJ to provide students with an inclusive Pre-College Program. NJCBVI students take part in an orientation period directly before the Pre-College Program to assist in orienting to camps and to provide additional preparation in the areas of college and career readiness. As part of the Pre-College Program students have the option to take a class for credit and participate in community service in the Trenton area.
